Cochrane’s 2017 census ran April 3-30. Census results (below) are submitted to Alberta Municipal Affairs in June; the new population figure should be declared official by the province in September.

Why is there both a municipal and federal census? Our municipal numbers are used immediately by the Town in long-term planning discussions, and by the province in time for 2017 funding opportunities. Federal numbers will not make an impact on provincial funding dollars until 2018 and beyond.
