The Town’s 150 Brush Strokes project presented two local students with awards towards their art education.
The winning student artists are Hannah Kinch, who painted the Men of Vision at sunset and Erin Shier, for her acrylic of St. Andrews United Church.
The 150 Brush Strokes project has been running all year as part of Cochrane’s Canada 150 celebrations. One artist each month have been working on pieces that depict specific Cochrane landmarks.
The finished paintings are on display at Cochrane’s Visitor Information Centre until the end of November.
All the 150 Brush Strokes paintings were for sale, with partial proceeds going towards the student scholarship awards. Postcards are available of all the paintings.
Grade 12 students were invited to submit artwork throughout October.
Submissions were judged by 150 Brush Strokes artists Shannon Luyendyk, Faye Boychuk and Danita Phelan. They also provided the students with a professional critique of their work.
The winners were announced at the ClubHouse Art Walk on Saturday November 18
