The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) has a municipal contract with the Town of Cochrane to provide a local policing service. The Cochrane RCMP Detachment has 38 regular members including one Staff Sergeant, two Sergeants, four Corporals and over 31 Constables. Cochrane RCMP also employs eleven support staff who assist members in daily operations.
Cochrane RCMP serves Cochrane and surrounding areas. Areas such as Springbank, Bragg Creek, McLean Creek, Bearspaw, Morley and Waiparous are included within the boundaries policed by the local RCMP. The Cochrane detachment responds to a diverse number of calls due to the ever-growing communities of Cochrane and surrounding areas.
