Here are some pool water quality facts:
Did you know that swimming pools within the province of Alberta are legislated to keep a Chlorine residual of:
(a) 1.0 milligram per litre in a pool with an operating water temperature of 30 degrees Celsius or less
(b) 2.0 milligrams per litre in a pool with an operating water temperature of more than 30 degrees Celsius
In order to maintain a safe swimming environment for the Town of Cochrane residents the Big Hill Leisure Pool works to consistently maintain the following in our pools:
Leisure Pool - a temperature of 32 degrees Celsius and a Chlorine residual of 2.5 milligrams per litre
Lap Pool – a temperature of 28.5 degrees Celsius and a Chlorine residual of 2.0 milligrams per litre
Hot Tub – a temperature of 40 degrees Celsius and a Chlorine residual of 3.0 milligrams per litre
