(Cochrane, AB) – With the support of community partners, Cochrane Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) is offering a variety of unique community events, classes and programs for seniors all week long.

Running from June 5-11, Seniors’ Week celebrates local seniors for their community contributions and vibrancy. In recognition, older adults 50+ and seniors 65+ are invited to take part in a variety of community events, including educational opportunities, live entertainment, health and wellness sessions, fitness classes and more.

“We are looking forward to the incredible partner activities planned this year, celebrating the incredible seniors in our community,” says Kim Krawec, Manager of FCSS, Town of Cochrane. “Thanks to our partners, volunteers, supporters, sponsors and platinum sponsor, Mayfair Diagnostics, we are able to host a week filled with all kinds of wonderful programs tailored towards seniors.”

On Saturday, June 3, Cochranites of all ages are invited to attend the Seniors’ Week kick-off event, celebrating the grand opening of the Seniors on the Bow Labyrinth/Gazebo (located behind SLS Centre). Starting at 11:30 am, residents can enjoy cake, refreshments, guest speakers and a ribbon cutting ceremony with Cochrane Mayor, Jeff Genung.

In addition to the scheduled events, passengers over the age of 60 can ride Cochrane’s Local On-Demand Transit, COLT, for free all week.
