Cochrane Fire Services Encouraging Residents To Participate In Community Engagement Survey

(Cochrane, AB) – Cochrane Fire Services is asking residents to take part in a community-wide engagement survey, running from April 5-26. The intent is to collect community feedback to support the development of Cochrane’s Fire Master Plan.

The survey invites the community to provide feedback and assess overall community views of service delivery, community safety and support offered by Cochrane Fire Services. Input collected from the survey, along with technical information and data gathered will serve to educate, tailor our community outreach, and guide decisions made on the department’s future growth trajectory and service level plans over the next 10 years.

“As an essential element of a healthy and sustainable community, Cochrane Fire Services is committed to protecting the people and property within our community,” says Cochrane Fire Chief, Shawn Polley. “We are sending out this survey to communities in Cochrane to gather our citizens' feedback on what Cochrane Fire Services can improve to make your community better, the survey will play an important role in developing the Fire Master Plan.”

Approved in the 2023 budget, the Fire Master Plan aims to identify growth opportunities, plan for improved efficiencies and reflect on current and projected community growth to help better services that support the ongoing needs of the community. Aligned with Cochrane’s vision and strategic plan, the document will act as a guide for future development within the fire department and community.

To support the development of the Plan, Fire Services and consultant, Transitional Solutions Inc., is currently conducting the assessment and information gathering phase, which includes evaluating departmental structure, operations, and response services. A complete review will be done of current fire services facilities, safety apparatus, equipment, staffing, resources and more, identifying areas for improvement and enhancement. Once complete, recommendations and conclusions based on data and consistent with industry best practices and response standards, will be presented to Council later in 2023.
