Cochrane supports mental health week: Free community events and resources
(Cochrane, AB) – Next week marks the start of Mental Health Week in Cochrane. From May 6-12, Cochrane Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) with the support of local community partners will be offering a variety of events to help raise awareness of mental health and highlight important resources in the community.

The annual initiative, created by the Canadian Mental Health Association, aims to shift attitudes and perceptions surrounding mental health. In recognition, FCSS is uniting a variety of related events focused on bringing community members together and supporting mental health. The week offers a range of activities for all ages including a drum circle, mental health discussions, art classes, a community lunch, yoga classes and more.

Mental Health Week is a great opportunity to bring community together, build social connection and support mental well-being,” says Kim Krawec, Manager of FCSS. “With the help of our wonderful community partners we are able to offer an array of resources that Cochranites can continue to access all year round.”

In addition to the organized mental health initiatives offered this week, FCSS is excited to highlight their local mental health website. Designed to provide local mental health resources and information, cochranecares.ca is a one-stop website for Cochranites looking for additional support. The website features local resources, pillars of wellness and stories of hope from Cochrane residents on their mental health journey.
