(Cochrane, AB) – As part of Cochrane’s commitment to regular maintenance and repair of infrastructure, crews will be working throughout Town over the coming months to maintain and repair roads, sidewalks and crosswalks.

“The Roads team has been preparing for this year’s summer maintenance program with a focus on public safety and accessibility and care for the community we proudly serve,” says Wally Hume, Roads Manager, Town of Cochrane. “Regular maintenance and improvement are crucial to increase safety and prolong the life of Cochrane's roads. To maintain community connectivity, our department has prioritized fiscal and environmental responsibility when planning this work.”

The summer maintenance season generally begins in April and runs through October. Most of this work requires consistently warm temperatures for asphalt and concrete to cure and line paint to properly adhere.

This year’s efforts will include alley repairs, crack sealing and asphalt replacement and repair on identified roadways in Cochrane. Some of the identified areas experience a higher traffic volume and have been planned thoroughly to minimize impact on motorists.

Additionally, the following routine work will take place throughout the summer:

  • Crosswalk, curb and parking lot painting
  • Line painting
  • Manhole repairs
  • Pothole repairs
  • Sidewalk replacements
  • Solar-powered crosswalk installation
  • Storm sewer maintenance
  • Street sweeping

More information on the summer maintenance program is available at the Road Maintenance page. Scheduled work will be shared on the Building & Construction page and on Facebook.
