Paying your property taxes

Cochrane offers a variety of payment methods. Credit card or Interac e-transfers are not accepted on property tax payments.

Tax Installment Payment Plan

The Tax Installment Payment Plan (TIPP) lets home and business owners break up their payments into smaller monthly installments. An automatic debit will be made from a personal account on the 15th day of each month. Your instalments will be adjusted on an annual basis to reflect any tax changes for the current year.

Paying through a bank or credit union

Cochrane is registered with all major banks and credit unions. You can pay taxes in person or through your financial institution’s online or mobile banking service. Use your roll number for the account number. Payments cannot be made through automated banking machines.

Make sure to check with your financial institution's policies regarding the effective date of payment to avoid a late payment penalty.

Drop box payments

With this option, payments can be made at any time outside business hours. There are two drop box locations available for your convenience:

Paying in person

When paying in person, bring your property tax bill. We accept cheques post-dated on or before the due date indicated on the tax bill. Make sure that your daily limit is large enough to pay your bill if you are paying with Interac.

Pay in-person Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

Paying by mail

Mailed payments (cheque or money orders only) can be sent to:

Town of Cochrane
101 RancheHouse Rd.
Cochrane, AB  T4C 2K8

Include your tax roll number on cheques and include the return portion of the tax bill. Date your post-dated cheque on or before the due date. The envelope must be postmarked by Canada Post on or before the due date to avoid the late payment penalty.
