WARM WEATHER IS FINALLY HERE— AND THE SNOW IS MELTING!

Tips for the big melt

Town crews are keeping an eye on melting snow, but you can help:

• Catch basins (storm drains)

- clear snow and ice from grate

- clear a trench so water can flow easily

• Sidewalks

- check each day for ice

- sand/salt as required

• Streets

- if water accumulates on the road (or your driveway/lawn), you may be near a trap low (check cochrane.ca/Traplow)

make sure there’s a clear path to the catch basin (storm drain)

• Eavestroughs and downspouts

- clear snow away from the ends

- make sure they are pointed away from your foundation

- bonus points if your eavestroughs and downspouts don’t discharge onto your steps or walkway

• Basements

- clear snow away from your foundation

- clear snow away from your window wells

We appreciate everything you do to help deal with all this snow!
