COMMUNITY GETTING TO WORK ON TRI-SITE CONCEPT PLANS

Cochrane, AB – Council is moving forward with plans for three sites in the centre of Cochrane.

Council approved establishing a Tri-site Concept Plans Project Advisory Group to assist in the development of a concept plan for the Town’s Fifth Avenue lands, the former Esso Bulk Station on Railway Street and the one-acre parcel beside the Cochrane Public Library.

Mayor Jeff Genung is pleased to see the project move forward. “This project has the potential to be transformational for our downtown core,” he says. “We’re asking the community to take the lead so we get a clear idea of what Cochranites would like to see in those locations.”

The advisory group will be made up of one Councillor and nine community members who will guide community engagement and draft design concepts for the three sites. The concepts are scheduled to come to Council for approval later this year.

Those interested in serving on the advisory group can apply on cochrane.ca/Committees.

Council identified the project as one of their 2018 priorities.
