Let’s Talk public engagement got into another gear this week with the launch of a new community engagement vehicle.The Let’s Talk truck is designed to bring public engagement opportunities to locations where people are already gathered.With the approval of the updated Public Engagement Policy this week, Town staff are continuing to explore new and innovative ways to gather public input on a wide variety of important topics.“This Council is committed to finding new, better and more effective ways to receive input from residents on topics that affect the community,” says Mayor Jeff Genung. “For elected officials to be effective, we need to hear from residents. This is a great way to get out and do that.”The Let’s Talk community cruiser is a small pick-up truck designed to travel to community events for in-person public engagement. The truck is on a short-term lease as a pilot project and is funded out of the existing advertising budget.The Town launched Let’s Talk in February 2018 to invigorate public engagement in Cochrane. Let’s Talk includes the LetsTalkCochrane.ca website, public meetings and in-person events, online surveys and more.When the Let’s Talk truck is parked at an event, it means there’s a current public engagement opportunity. The truck is already scheduled to appear at at today's Let's Talk BBq and upcoming Farmers’ Markets, Night Markets and Canada Day.
