Soon you’ll be able to watch Council meetings from any connected device, thanks to new equipment installed in Cochrane Council Chambers.

Council meetings will be live-streamed starting Monday August 13. Residents can watch the live stream online from any home computer or mobile device.

Mayor Jeff Genung says transparency is important. “It’s always been this Council’s goal to make our discussions, debates and decisions more open and available for the public,” he says. “Many of us are easy to contact informally — especially on social media — but live-streaming Council meetings allows the community to see how we work in the formal setting of a Council meeting.”

Earlier this year, Council asked administration to investigate options for live streaming. On March 26, Council approved $40,000 for hardware and software to both live-stream and archive video recordings of Council meetings.

New equipment was installed in Council Chambers this spring after a formal bidding process.
