On Thursday, November 21, helping the local community is on the menu.
One dollar from every Big Mac, Happy Meal and specialty coffee purchased from the Cochrane McDonald’s on Fifth Avenue will be donated to local initiatives of the United Way as part of their United for Cochrane campaign.
The fundraiser is organized by the Town of Cochrane Family and Community Support Services (FCSS), United Way of Calgary and Area and McDonald's in Cochrane.
Kim Krawec, Manager of Cochrane FCSS, said the fundraising effort is just one of the many campaigns the United Way has coordinated during their 20-year partnership.
“Every dollar raised stays in Cochrane to help our local programs,” Krawec explained. “United Way funds are directed to programs supporting low-income individuals and families living in Cochrane and area, youth, victims of crime and domestic violence, and help increase social connections for all ages.”
This is the fourth year McDonald's has supported the initiative. The United Way contributes approximately $70,000 to Cochrane FCSS and together, local non-profit social agencies see over $120,000 in funding each year.
Last year’s United for Cochrane campaign raised over $2,000.
