TOWN EVENT CANCELLATION EXTENDED TO JULY 2

Cochranes Response to COVID-19

The Town has extended the cancellation of events to July 2, including events in the Town’s parks, fields and buildings.

Cochrane’s response to COVID-19 aligns with provincial and federal responses and originally included the cancellation of events until June 1.

The Town picked July 2 to make it clear that traditional Canada Day events should be reconsidered as virtual celebrations.

The extension aligns with updates from provincial authorities, restrictions on public gatherings and recommendations for physical distancing.

The extension impacts other seasonal events in Cochrane — garage sales, neighbourhood gatherings and the Cochrane Farmers’ Market among others — but it has become clear from health authorities that physical distancing measures will be required for longer than first anticipated.

Cochranites have been very creative in finding alternative ways to connect since the COVID-19 response has been underway. If we can continue and maintain physical distancing, we’ll all contribute to flattening the curve in Alberta.
