Looking for a job — like everything else lately — is adapting to the global pandemic by going online.
The Town of Cochrane is working with Prospect’s Rocky View and Wheatland Employment Services to deliver this year’s Cochrane Job Fair as a virtual event at the end of February.
At this year’s event, job seekers and employers will be able to meet, discuss opportunities and even participate in interviews — all via Zoom instead of in a large facility like in past years.
Prospect’s Rocky View and Wheatland Employment services has already delivered other virtual job fairs and knows the system works. “Past virtual hiring events we’ve held have been extremely successful both for employers and job seekers,” says Abigail Gonzalez, Manager of Rocky View and Wheatland Employment Services. “They’re a very professional, efficient and personal way to connect.”
Employers have their own virtual “room” where they can make presentations or meet applicants in small groups or one-on-one. Job seekers enter a virtual “lobby” where facilitators help them enter each employer’s space. They can interact, exchange information and find out how to apply specific openings.
Prospect Career Advisors will also be on hand to review resumes and run virtual employment workshops, just like they did in the past at in-person events.
The Cochrane Job Fair is open to job seekers of all ages with a wide variety of interests. The list of participating employers, as well the registration form, is on cochrane.ca/JobFair.
This year’s Cochrane Job Fair runs Saturday February 27 from 11am-2pm.
