Cochrane, AB – As part of Cochrane’s commitment to regular maintenance and repair of infrastructure, crews will be working throughout Town over the coming months to maintain and repair roads, sidewalks and crosswalks.
“Regular maintenance and upgrading are an important part of improving safety and extending the life of Cochrane’s roadways,” says Wally Hume, Roads Manager. “The majority of this work is done in the summer months. Many factors are considered such as public safety and accessibility, sound financial management, environmental respect and actioning community concerns.”
The summer maintenance season generally begins in April and runs through October. Most of this work requires consistently warm temperatures for asphalt and concrete to cure and line paint to properly adhere.
Roads crew’s efforts include, but aren’t limited to:
• Crack sealing
• Crosswalk, curb, and parking lot painting
• Line painting
• Manhole repairs
• Pothole and asphalt repairs
• Road and alley repairs
• Sidewalk replacements
