FRN Back to School Fair
Join us for the Back to School Fair on Saturday, August 24, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the SLS Centre, 800 Griffin Road E. This free, family-friendly event is an opportunity for Cochrane and area residents to explore a wide spectrum of services and support available to K-12 students and their families.
In partnership with the SLS Centre, the Back to School Fair will showcase a diverse selection of local agencies, programs and resources for a successful and enriching school year. Highlights of the event include:
- Conversations with local agencies and recreational programs tailored to enhance students' academic journey and family well-being.
- Interactive activities for all ages, including life-size games, balloon animals, glitter tattoos and a back to school photo booth.
- Special appearance by Butterfield Acres (sponsored by Cochrane Home Treasures).
Parents, youth and children are invited to participate in this dynamic Back to School Fair, where they can access essential information, connect with local resources and embrace the approaching school year in a spirited atmosphere.
Do you need assistance with school supplies?
A partnership with the Cochrane and Area Family Resource Network (FRN), Staples and the Kiwanis Club of Cochrane eases the financial stress of a new school year by providing students K-12 with important back-to-school supplies.
To be eligible for the Backpack Program you must show proof of enrollment in a Cochrane or West Rocky View County school and provide a GST/HST Credit Notice listing dependent children.
Apply
Applications for the program must be done in person and will be accepted at the Family Resource Network between August 22 to September 30.
Residents without proper documentation can call to book an appointment with a Resource Worker at the FRN.
How to donate
The Backpack Program relies heavily on community donations. Monetary donations for this valuable program are accepted at Staples (40 Quarry Street E.) or the FRN (127 First Avenue W.).
