Cochrane’s census numbers are in: the 2017 population is 26,320.

The Town has grown 4.5% since the 2016 census, and 12% since 2015.

Many provincial government grants are awarded on a per capita basis —a precise census count ensures the Town receives the maximum funding the community is entitled to.

Cochrane’s census was held between April 1 and 30. The results are submitted to Alberta Municipal Affairs; the new population figure should be declared official by the province in September.
