Backpack program

In partnership with Staples, the Kiwanis Club of Cochrane, and the Cochrane Food Bank, the Family Resource Network (FRN) provides backpacks filled with grade-appropriate school supplies to eligible students in grades K–12, helping to ease the financial stress of the back-to-school season.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the backpack program you will need to show:

· Proof of enrollment in a Cochrane or West Rocky View County School

· A valid Cochrane Connect Card or a Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit (CGEB) notice of credit. (Formerly known as the GST/HST credit)

Residents without proper documentation must book an appointment with an FRN Resource Worker to discuss eligibility.

Apply

Applications will be available in person at the Family Resource Network from August 17 - September 18, 2026.

How to donate

The backpack program relies heavily on community donations. Monetary donations for this valuable program are accepted at Staples (40 Quarry Street E.) , the FRN (127 First Avenue W.) or the FCSS (#1 -209 Second Avenue W.)
