Cochrane partners with local Cochrane not-for-profit organizations to commemorate local events, special occasions, and achievements in the community. We love taking the opportunity to celebrate the diversity of people who call Cochrane home and our connection to the global community.

Local not for profits may apply here to request to fly Flags of local not-for-profit organizations to celebrate a special occasion or achievement in Cochrane; and Flags of particular nations on their national days in recognition of Cochrane’s ethnic and cultural diversity.

Light the bridge 

Local Cochrane not-for-profit organizations may request recognition by illuminating the Jack Tennant Memorial Bridge in a particular colour for one night.

Applications must be submitted by local Cochrane not-for-profit organizations, community-focused, and received at least three weeks prior to the requested date. Requests are processed in the order in which they are received, are considered on a case-by-case basis, and may:

  • Support an event of national or international significance (such as Canada Day or Cochrane hosting major international event)
  • Support of a local festival or event that positively impacts local community spirit
  • Support a local, national, or international awareness issue that builds community (such as Treaty 6 Recognition Day, End Bullying Pink Shirt Day or Pride Week)
  • Tribute or memorialize well-documented local or national figures or service members

A $25 fee will be applied after the dates are confirmed.
