Local Cochrane nonprofit community organizations are invited to submit an application to use the Courtesy Flagpole at the Historic RancheHouse to fly their organization’s flag or banner. Flags may be flown to celebrate a special occasion or achievement in Cochrane. Requests are processed in the order in which they are received and considered on a case-by-case basis. Applications must be received no more than eight weeks and no fewer than three weeks before the requested date. It is the responsibility of the local Cochrane nonprofit organizations to organize the raising of the flag and/or a flag raising ceremony if applicable. Details must be provided to Administration two weeks in advance for approval. The applicant must provide the flag to the reception desk on the second floor of the Cochrane RancheHouse no less than three business days before the date.
Flags must be in excellent condition with no holes or torn fringe and must be standard-sized (3 feet x 6 feet).
Unless other arrangements have been approved, flags will be flown for one day from sunrise to sunset.
Applications must be made each year to be considered and are not automatically guaranteed to be approved again. One request per organization per calendar year is permitted. Administration will post approved dates on the Calendar of special requests. All other event marketing and promotion is the applicant’s responsibility. Cochrane strives to accommodate all eligible requests, but any confirmed requests may be modified if a major local, national or international situation occurs. If a request is modified, Administration will work to find an alternative date. If no suitable date can be found, a refund will be issued. A half-mast takes precedence over all flag raisings.
