The Men of Vision statue in Cochrane, Alberta, honors the pioneering spirit of early cowboys and the vital role of ranching in the province's economic growth. Commissioned by Alberta Culture and created by artist Malcolm James MacKenzie, the statue was originally unveiled in 1979. This bronze statue stands as a tribute to those who built Cochrane up from the ground; the cowboys, ranchers, and pioneers, dubbed the “men of vision” for their dream of a prosperous farmstead are represented by the lone man on horseback. It overlooks the Cochrane Ranch Historic Site, which is the location of the first ranch in the area, founded by Senator Matthew Henry Cochrane in 1881.
The statue was recently repaired after vandalism, emphasizing its historical significance and the community's appreciation for its legacy.
