Home Occupations

A home occupation is a business that operates out of a residential dwelling. Home occupations must meet all applicable regulations under the Land Use Bylaw. 

There are two types of home occupation:

Home Occupation – Class 1 means a home occupation which does not involve any client or customer visits to the home, and does not involve any employees working on-site who do not reside in the home

A Home Occupation – Class 1 requires a business license to operate but does not require a development permit.

Home Occupation – Class 2 means a Home Occupation which: 

  • involves up to six (6) client or customer visits to the home per day, and/or 
  • involves no more than one employee working on-site who does not reside in the Dwelling Unit.

A Home Occupation – Class 2 requires both a business license and a development permit to operate.
