(Cochrane, AB) – The 2024 construction season has brought significant progress to Cochrane, with many key projects now completed or well underway, marking a period of transformation that has enhanced the community’s infrastructure and connectivity. These improvements have focused on upgrading roadways, expanding pathways and creating spaces for recreation, all of which contribute to a more vibrant, accessible and safer environment for residents.

The Centre Avenue Phase 3 project, which widened Centre Avenue from Powell Street to 1st Street, was completed, improving access to Cochrane's Historic Downtown. The final pavement layer will be installed in 2025 once settling is complete, finalizing the roadway.

The Jumpstart Play Courts project, an accessible multi-sport court located behind the SLS Centre, was partially completed with foundation work finished this year. Final installation and landscaping are expected to be completed in 2025, with the court slated for public opening in Spring/Summer 2025.

The Fourth Avenue Wall project has transformed this major thoroughfare with the installation of a decorative wall and lighting, creating an attractive gateway to the town. The surrounding green space is also developing and will continue to evolve in the coming months.

The Historic Ranche & Glenbow Pathway Improvement project is set to be fully completed by December 15, with nearly 3 km of pathways in Glenbow and the Historic Cochrane Ranche paved, along with the replacement of four pedestrian bridges in Glenbow Park. These upgrades will greatly improve pathway connections and access to Cochrane’s extensive trail system, with new signage planned for installation in 2025.

Finally, work on the Hwy 1A/22 Interchange continues as part of the Province’s transformation of this key interchange, with major roadway and landscape improvements underway. The project is expected to be completed in late 2025.

These projects demonstrate Cochrane’s ongoing commitment to enhancing the Town’s infrastructure, improving connectivity and fostering a more vibrant, thriving community for residents and visitors alike.
