(Cochrane, AB) – The Cochrane and Area Family Resource Network (FRN) is inviting residents to the annual Back-to-School Family Resource Fair on Saturday, August 29, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the SLS Centre Curling Rink (800 Griffin Road E). The event is designed to connect families with the local resources, programs and services that help students thrive throughout the school year.
Hosted in partnership with the SLS Centre, the free community event brings together more than 35 local organizations offering information, programs and services for children and youth from Pre-K to Grade 12 and their caregivers.
Families can:
- Connect with local agencies, recreational programs and youth services.
- Learn about programs that support children's learning, health and well-being.
- Explore the Town's Backpack Program and other back-to-school supports.
- Enjoy free family-friendly activities, games and entertainment throughout the day.
"Starting a new school year comes with plenty of excitement, but it can also feel overwhelming for families trying to navigate the many programs and supports available," says Kim Krawec, Manager of Family and Community Support Services (FCSS), Town of Cochrane. "The Back-to-School Family Resource Fair brings everything together in one place, making it easier for families to discover local resources, ask questions and build connections that can support them throughout the school year."
The fair reflects the Family Resource Network's ongoing commitment to helping families access the services they need while strengthening connections across the community. This year's event also highlights the importance of collaboration, bringing together more than 35 community partners dedicated to supporting children, youth and families.
The Back-to-School Family Resource Fair is free to attend, and everyone is welcome.
