(Cochrane, AB) – Cochrane Family and Community Support Services (FCSS), with the support of generous sponsors and community partners, is inviting residents aged 50 years or older to join them from June 1–7, 2026 for the 40th annual Seniors’ Week.
Celebrated across Alberta, Seniors’ Week is a time to recognize and show appreciation for seniors and the many ways they contribute to the strength and vibrancy of our communities. This year is especially significant, marking the 40th anniversary of Seniors’ Week in Alberta.
“We are proud to celebrate not only our local seniors, but also the 40-year legacy of Seniors’ Week across Alberta,” says Kim Krawec, Manager of the Cochrane Family and Community Support Services (FCSS). “Thanks to our amazing partners, volunteers, and sponsors, we’re able to offer a week filled with programs designed specifically for older adults and seniors.”
In Cochrane, adults aged 50 years or older are encouraged to explore and sign up for a full week of activities designed to connect, engage, and celebrate. The program lineup includes educational workshops, live entertainment, health and wellness sessions, social events and more. A full list of events can be found at cochrane.ca/seniorsweek.
Town-led offerings include:
- The Western Social and High Tea event at the Lions Centre on June 1 (tickets required)
- The annual Seniors’ Movie (tickets required)
- Intergenerational Felting
- The Power Hour: Bills and Scams workshop with Utilities Consumer Advocate
In addition to events and programming, there are resources available for older adults at the Seniors’ Resources Fair on Saturday, May 30. Access to free COLT transit service is available to adults 6 and over on an honour-system basis. For On-Request service, book in the Colt app using the “SENIOR” coupon or call 403-851-5995.
