Cochrane Connect Card Program Is Helping Residents Financially While Supporting Local Businesses

(Cochrane, AB) – Recognizing the financial challenges that some Cochrane residents may be experiencing, Cochrane Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) is reminding Cochranites about the Cochrane Connect Card. The Cochrane Connect Card is an initiative that contributes to the overall wellbeing of Cochrane and area residents by providing low income families and individuals access to a variety of services at a reduced rate.

The Connect Card Program is available through Cochrane FCSS and the Family Resource Network (FRN) all year round. Qualified Connect Card holders can access discounts at participating businesses, increasing access to affordable transportation, recreation, programs and other everyday essentials.

“The program provides low-income residents with the extra support they need, helping put money back in their pocket for the things that matter most.” says Kim Krawec, Manager of Family and Community Support Services, Town of Cochrane. “This is an example of how strong partnerships between the business and social community can make an incredible difference.”

The two-tiered program offers select discounts based on applicants’ income level. Interested applicants are asked to book an appointment with a resource worker. Those with children aged 0-18, can call the FRN at 403-851-2265, and individuals, families with children 18+, older adults or rural residents can call FCSS at 403-851-2250.

Currently, there are 18 local businesses and two Town services offering a range of discounts, with plans to promote growth in the number of participating local businesses.

The Cochrane Connect Card Program encourages local businesses to give back to the community by offering select discounts that support their business model. Although aimed to help residents, The Connect Card Program encourages card holders to shop local – bringing in additional business, supporting Cochrane and area businesses.
