Cochrane encourages residents to GoPaperless during Canada Post strike

canada post mail disruption

With a national Canada Post strike currently underway, the Town of Cochrane is taking steps to ensure residents can continue accessing essential information and services without interruption. Residents are strongly encouraged to sign up for Go Paperless and Cochrane eServices to receive and manage Town of Cochrane bills without delay.

Go paperless
Once registered with Go Paperless, Town of Cochrane bills will be sent directly via email. Email notifications are available for animal licences, utilities, property taxes and assessments. Sign up at cochrane.ca/paperless.

Cochrane eServices
Cochrane eServices is available to access, view and manage utility billing, animal and business licensing, property tax and assessments. Online payments can also be made through the eServices secure portal. Log in or activate your account at cochrane.ca/eservices.

Animal licences
Renewal reminders will be sent by email during the service disruption, but physical renewal notices will not be mailed. Pet owners remain responsible for ensuring licences are current. Renewals and new licences can be processed at cochrane.ca/animallicence or in person, and tags must be collected in person.

Utilities
While utility bills will not be mailed in October, bills will be due on October 30. Sign up for Go Paperless and create a Cochrane eServices account to check your balance and make a payment online.

Property assessment and taxation
If your home was constructed in 2025, you should receive a supplementary property assessment and tax bill due December 31, 2025. Sign up for Go Paperless and create a Cochrane eServices account to access assessments and tax roll information online.

Planning and development
Adjacent landowner notifications typically sent by mail will be provided by email. Notifications for permitted and discretionary developments will be posted online under Public notices

Business licensing
Business licence applications, renewals and certificates will be distributed by email. For more information, visit cochrane.ca/business or contact business.licences@cochrane.ca.

Municipal Enforcement tickets
Bylaw offence ticket payments can be made in person at the RancheHouse (101 RancheHouse Rd.) or The Station (360 Railway St. W.). It is the defendant’s responsibility to ensure payment or response is received before the stated deadline.

Elections
Eligible voters who cannot vote in person may apply for a special ballot. Once requested, arrange pick-up and drop-off your special ballot package by emailing elections@cochrane.ca.  All packages must be returned by 4:30 p.m. on Election Day (October 20, 2025).

Cochrane thanks residents for their patience and cooperation as we work to maintain uninterrupted access to Town services. For updates and information, visit cochrane.ca, download the Town of Cochrane app or visit The Station or Cochrane RancheHouse.
