(Cochrane, AB) – Local non-profit and charitable organizations will soon be able to apply for funding through the Cochrane/United Way Partnership Grant, which supports programs that strengthen the social well-being of individuals and families in Cochrane and West Rocky View County.
Over the past six years, Cochrane Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) and United Way of Calgary and Area have provided more than $500,000 to local organizations addressing issues such as poverty, mental health, social isolation, domestic violence and food security.
“Local organizations understand the needs of our community and play an important role in helping residents access the supports they need,” said Kim Krawec, Manager of Family and Community Support Services. “Through this partnership, we are able to invest in programs that strengthen connections, build resilience and create meaningful, long-term impact for individuals and families.”
Funding is available for programs that respond to local social needs and align with the priorities of Cochrane FCSS or United Way of Calgary and Area. Eligible initiatives may focus on fostering belonging, strengthening relationships, improving access to supports, building resilience and supporting mental and financial well-being. Programs that are primarily recreational or duplicate services already provided by a government or government agency are not eligible.
Eligible applications will be reviewed by the FCSS Advisory Board, which will make funding recommendations to Council.
This year, FCSS will also sponsor up to five local social-serving leaders to participate in Mount Royal University’s Systems Leadership Sandbox training. The program is designed to help participants strengthen collaboration, build partnerships and develop new approaches to complex community challenges while building the skills and connections needed to support lasting community impact.
