Cochrane’s annual street sweeping program begins April 28

Residential street sweeping program 2025 runs April 28-May 15.

(Cochrane, AB) – Cochrane’s annual residential street sweeping program is set to begin on Monday, April 28, 2025. This essential maintenance work removes debris and winter sanding material from roadways, helping to prevent vehicle damage, improve safety for pedestrians and cyclists and keep storm drains clear.

What residents need to know:

  • Check the schedule. Each neighbourhood is scheduled for sweeping on a weekday that does not coincide with waste and recycling collection. All residential roadways are expected to be completed by Thursday May 15, weather permitting.
  • Watch for signage. Notification signs will be placed at neighbourhood entrances 48 hours before sweeping begins. A temporary parking ban will be in effect on weekdays in areas where signs are posted.
  • Move your vehicle. To ensure a thorough clean, residents must move their vehicles off the street before 8 a.m. on their scheduled sweeping day. Use driveways, alleys, or alternative parking options. Vehicles left on the street may be ticketed or towed.
  • Remove obstructions. Please relocate curb ramps, basketball and hockey nets, and any other items from the roadway. Unmoved items may be bypassed, leaving some areas uncleaned.
  • Prepare for dust. Sweeping can generate significant dust—keeping windows closed on scheduled sweeping days is recommended.

“Our Roads team have begun pre-sweeping priority and now we need residents’ help to keep streets clear on their scheduled day,” says Shane Hubl, Director of Operations, Town of Cochrane. “Moving vehicles and removing items from the road allows us to sweep efficiently and ensure our streets are clean and safe for everyone.”

Residents can view the street sweeping schedule at cochrane.ca/sweep and download the Town of Cochrane app to receive weekly event notifications when street sweeping begins. Daily schedule updates are confirmed by 8 a.m. on cochrane.ca and on the @TownofCochrane Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter accounts.

Thank you for your cooperation in keeping Cochrane’s streets clean and safe!
