Elevating the community experience with kraft hockeyville 2024

Kraft Hockeyville

As Kraft Hockeyville 2025 approaches, SLS Centre is excited to share how they are investing the $25,000 prize from their 2nd place win in Kraft Hockeyville 2024, and the incredible $25,000 donation from the Calgary Flames Foundation.

Thanks to the incredible support from these organizations and the community, SLS Centre is using the funds to make some exciting upgrades at Cochrane Arena—enhancements that are thoughtfully designed with the community's needs in mind!

After careful planning and listening to feedback, SLS Centre identified four key improvements that will have a significant impact on our community’s experience at Cochrane Arena:

  • Lighting upgrades: A significant lighting overhaul has been completed to improve visibility, reduce energy consumption, and offer better control. The upgrades ensure a brighter, more energy-efficient environment for everyone, whether playing, watching, or visiting.
  • New hydration station: Responding to community feedback, SLS Centre has installed a new water fountain in the main lobby, making fresh water easily accessible for all visitors.
  • Rubber flooring replacement: The rubber flooring in the dressing rooms and player benches is being replaced to improve durability and comfort, enhancing the overall experience for athletes.
  • Bathroom improvements: SLS Centre is addressing community concerns by installing new partitions in the dressing room stalls for greater privacy and cleanliness. Plans for further upgrades to public washrooms are set for 2025.

Catriona Hill, Director of Experience at SLS Centre, commented, “These upgrades reflect our commitment to deliver an improved experience to the community that worked together to win this prize.” She continued, “We’re grateful for your support of the campaign.”

Reflecting on the Kraft Hockeyville experience, Catriona added, “The competition not only offers the opportunity to provide much-needed upgrades to aging rinks, but it also brings people together, celebrates our common love for hockey, and fosters community pride. SLS Centre wishes the best of luck to all communities who may be about to embark on this exciting journey in Kraft Hockeyville 2025.”
