(Cochrane, AB) – Residents are invited to celebrate and connect with local emergency services at the First Responder Expo on Saturday, May 31, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Cochrane Lions Club Event Centre.

Organized by the Cochrane EMS Crisis Citizen Action Club (CAC), with support from the Town of Cochrane, the event offers an opportunity for residents of all ages to enjoy a wide range of indoor and outdoor attractions, including:

  • Vehicle extraction demonstrations by Cochrane Fire Services
  • STARS and RCMP helicopter landings and takeoffs (subject to operational availability and potential redeployment)
  • Search and Rescue drone demonstrations
  • Vintage emergency vehicles, including fire trucks, police vehicles and ambulances
  • Bounce castle and face painting
  • Emergency response displays and interactive exhibits
  • Food trucks and community organization booths

Admission to the event is by monetary or non-perishable food donation to the Cochrane Food Bank, helping support local residents in need. First responders attending the event will also receive food vouchers and other perks as a small token of appreciation for their service.

“The First Responders Expo is a great opportunity for the community to come together, learn more about local emergency services and show appreciation for the dedicated professionals who serve our community every day,” says Jay Judin, Director of Community Safety, Town of Cochrane. “With exciting demonstrations and activities for all ages, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.”

“As chair of our EMS Club, we have worked very closely with the Town of Cochrane to improve our ambulance coverage, and we are excited to join other first responders to promote what we do daily,” says Brian Winter, Chair, Cochrane EMS Crisis Citizen Action Club (CAC). “The big winner is the Cochrane Food Bank as we stock their shelves when residents bring non-perishable food items as they enter the Lions Event Centre.”
