The Government Of Canada And The Town Of Cochrane Invest To Plan For The Electrification Of Cochrane

Cochrane, Alberta, June, 1, 2023 — Today, George Chahal, Member of Parliament for Calgary Skyview, His Worship Jeff Genung, Mayor of Cochrane, and Josipa Petruni_, President and CEO of the Canadian Urban Transit Research & Innovation Consortium (CUTRIC), announced a joint investment of $103,800 to plan for the electrification of Cochrane’s transit fleet.

Through this investment, the Town will undertake a planning study that will look at the electrification of Cochrane On-Demand Local Transit. It will involve assessing the economic, technological, and environmental benefits of transitioning to a low-carbon fleet of vehicles, as well as the potential risks and constraints.

By investing in infrastructure, the Government of Canada is growing our country’s economy, increasing the resiliency of our communities, and improving the lives of Canadians.
