Help Write the Next Chapter of the Cochrane Public Library

Help write the next chapter of the Cochrane Public Library

(Cochrane, AB) – We are planning for the future of the Cochrane Public Library — and your voice is essential to the story.

The Town of Cochrane and Cochrane Public Library are launching a Facility Needs Assessment project to explore how a new multi-purpose library building could better meet the needs of our growing and evolving community. The project, Your Voice in Every Chapter, invites residents to reflect on the role the library has played in their lives and to imagine what it could become for future generations.

“The library has always been a place where our community comes together, but we know we can do even more,” said Library Board Chair, Rhonda Newman. “This project is about imagining what’s possible — creating spaces where kids can explore, seniors can connect, and everyone in between can learn, share and grow.”

Between July 14 and August 24, residents can participate in the engagement process in a variety of ways:

  • Visit LetsTalkCochrane.ca/yourvoice to share your thoughts through an online survey
  • Attend in-person pop-up events and self-guided stations around town (details to be provided on Let’s Talk Cochrane)

In this first round of engagement, the Town is looking to understand how library services have been a part of different chapters of residents’ lives – a quiet refuge, a gathering place, a zone to discover new interests? What community spaces, partnerships, and services can be brought together in a new multi-purpose library building to serve the people of Cochrane?

This engagement is part of a high-impact planning initiative that will guide long-term investment in local library services and community spaces.

“This is our community’s chance to weigh in and ensure this space truly reflects the heart of Cochrane and supports our community for years to come,” said Town of Cochrane Mayor Genung.
