Help shape the future of Cochrane’s parks and playgrounds
(Cochrane, AB) – Shaping tomorrow’s parks, together. The Town of Cochrane is inviting residents to help reimagine community parks and playgrounds, starting with Samuel Spicer Park. As part of an ongoing renewal initiative, the Town is seeking public input on how this space can better serve local needs in the immediate community, today and for the future.
The engagement is now live on the LetsTalkCochrane.ca website and runs until September 8th Residents can share how they use Samuel Spicer Park today and what they’d like to see in its future—whether that’s upgraded play equipment, lawn games or activities, park seating, or other features.
“At Samuel Spicer Park, we’re not just replacing playground equipment—we’re co-creating a space that reflects what matters most to the people who use it. The ideas and input we gather through this engagement will directly guide the design, ensuring the renewed park is truly shaped by residents, for residents—and continues to support connection, play, and belonging for years to come,” says Michelle Ambrose, Director of Parks & Active Living.
Rather than voting on a specific design, this process helps shape a vision based on local priorities. Input collected will directly inform future plans, ensuring parks remain inclusive and relevant. By involving residents early in the process, Cochrane hopes to foster inclusive and transparent conversations that result in welcoming, vibrant parks that meet the needs of current and future generations.
