Wastewater Discharging into Bow River: 10:45pm Update

Red box 'attention please'

A main sewer line break has occurred within the Town of Cochrane, causing an overland sewage discharge that is flowing into the Bow River at the Highway 22 bridge.

Cochrane drinking water is not impacted and remains safe to drink. We are working with all relevant agencies, including the City of Calgary, Rocky View County and Alberta Environment and Parks.

Please continue to avoid the area to allow crews the space to respond to this incident. Eastbound Griffin Road is down to one lane of traffic. All pathways adjacent to the Bow River have been closed – from Riverfront Park to Griffin Industrial Point. This includes the Jim Uffelmann Memorial Park.

The Town of Cochrane has activated the Emergency Coordination Centre.

Follow cochrane.ca for further updates.
