Drew Hyndman appointed Chief Administrative Officer for the Town of Cochrane

(Cochrane, AB) – The Town of Cochrane is pleased to announce the appointment of Drew Hyndman as Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), effective March 16, 2026. Mr. Hyndman has served as Interim CAO since November 2025 and will now formally assume the permanent role.

A proven municipal leader and Certified Local Government Manager, Mr. Hyndman brings more than 25 years of experience guiding high-performing teams and supporting strong community outcomes. He has been with the Town for over 11 years, previously serving as Executive Director of Development & Infrastructure Services.

"Council and I have unanimously endorsed Mr. Hyndman to continue leading our administration as Cochrane's permanent CAO,” said Mayor Nagel. “We have a long and positive history working with Drew, and in addition to his excellent work ethic, reliable character and strong leadership, he brings a wealth of long-term organizational knowledge that is truly invaluable. We are very confident that Drew will do an excellent job for many years to come.”

As CAO, Mr. Hyndman leads Cochrane’s staff, ensuring municipal services operate effectively and efficiently. The CAO serves as the bridge between Administration and Council — keeping Council informed and ensuring decisions are carried out as approved. The position is apolitical and oversees municipal operations to ensure Council’s priorities and community goals are achieved. 

As CAO, Mr. Hyndman will provide executive leadership to the organization, working closely with Council, staff and the community to advance key initiatives, support high-quality service delivery, and strengthen Cochrane’s long-term vision. Mr. Hyndman is passionate about fostering trusted, collaborative relationships and uniting people, resources and ideas to strengthen Cochrane’s future.

Mr. Hyndman’s appointment strengthens the organization’s ability to work in close partnership with Council to develop and implement a forward-looking Strategic Plan that will guide priorities, investments, and decision-making throughout Council’s term. Shane Hubl will continue as the acting Executive Director of Development & Infrastructure Services.
