(Cochrane, AB) — The Town of Cochrane has released its 2025 Development Summary Report, presented to Council for information at the April 13 Council meeting. The report provides an overview of development activity, population estimates and land supply based on building and permit data collected throughout the year.

In 2025, Cochrane’s estimated population increased by 2,374 residents, a 6.4% change from the previous year, bringing the total estimated population to 39,385. A total of 913 new residential units were completed in 2025, compared to 770 in 2024. Development permit activity remained consistent overall, reflecting ongoing residential and non-residential projects across the community.

“Providing this information annually offers a snapshot of development activity in Cochrane in 2025 and supports Council’s ongoing planning and decision-making,” said Mark Krysinski, Director of Community Growth.

The report also indicates the Town has an estimated 5.4 to 6.0 years of approved residential land supply based on current subdivision planning approvals. In 2025, approximately 240 development permit applications were processed, including residential, commercial and industrial projects.

Other key indicators include:
• 779 Certificates of Compliance issued, up 7.9% from 2024
