(Cochrane, AB) – The Town of Cochrane is pleased to announce Dallas D’Aoust as the new Fire Chief for Cochrane Fire Services, effective May 19, 2026.
Dallas brings extensive frontline and leadership experience to the role. Most recently, he served as Deputy Fire Chief in Yorkton, Saskatchewan and previous to that, Fire Captain with Edmonton Fire Rescue Services. His background includes incident command, training development, strategic planning and interagency coordination.
“It was critical that we select a leader who can guide Cochrane Fire Services through continued growth and evolving community needs, while staying grounded in the people and culture that define both the organization and our community,” says Jay Judin, Director of Community Safety, Town of Cochrane. “We are confident Dallas is the right person to lead Fire Services forward.”
In September 2026, Deputy Fire Chief, Jared Wallace, assumed the role of Interim Fire Chief. With the arrival of Fire Chief Dallas D’Aoust, Jared will return to his primary role as Deputy Fire Chief.
“We are grateful to have had someone as capable and experienced as Jared assume the position of Interim Fire Chief,” says Jay Judin. “We thank him for his continued commitment and dedication to Cochrane Fire Services and look forward to his ongoing contributions in his continued role of Deputy Fire Chief.”
Chief Dallas D’Aoust will oversee Cochrane Fire Services, which is comprised of 32 full-time operations staff, two Fire Prevention Officers, a Senior Administrative Assistant, a Deputy Fire Chief and 16 casual firefighters.
“I'm honoured to join such a dedicated and highly skilled team serving the Cochrane community,” says Dallas. “My focus is on supporting the team, building on the strong foundation already in place, and continuing to strengthen operations, emergency preparedness and community partnerships as Cochrane grows.”
