Centre Avenue construction work continues this fall

(Cochrane, AB) – The Town of Cochrane is providing an update on upcoming construction work along Centre Avenue, with concrete warranty repairs scheduled to take place from September 8 to 23 at the intersection of Centre Avenue and First Street.

Work will take place between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. and will include concrete removals, gravelling and grading and concrete pouring and placement. The work is being completed as warranty work associated with the previous Centre Avenue upgrades.

Two-way traffic will be maintained in all directions through the intersection, with traffic control personnel in place to help manage traffic and keep vehicles moving as efficiently as possible. Motorists may experience some delays while work is underway and are encouraged to allow additional travel time when travelling through the area.

Access to local businesses and properties will be maintained throughout construction, as will emergency access.

“We know the community is eager to see the remaining work along Centre Avenue completed, and we appreciate the continued patience of residents, businesses and those travelling through the area,” said Adam Sullo, Executive Director, Engineering & Planning. “Our priority is completing the remaining work safely, while maintaining access, minimizing traffic impacts where possible and keeping the community informed.”

Following the concrete work, the final surface layer of asphalt will be placed. The schedule for this is still being finalized. Additional information about timing and traffic impacts will be shared with the community once details are confirmed.

The Town will continue to work closely with the contractor and project consultant as the remaining work progresses. Construction schedules are subject to change due to weather and other factors, and further information on timing and traffic impacts will be shared as details are confirmed.
