How to participate
Get ready to get spooky! Cochrane’s Halloween Spooky & Bright House Decorating Contest is your chance to show off your Halloween spirit, transform your home into a frightfully fun display, and join a community-wide celebration.  Whether your decorations are spooky, silly, creepy or creative, we want to see them! 
  • Decorate your home and show off your Halloween spirit to win great prizes! 
  • Nominations are accepted from October 12- October 23.
  • Nominated displays need to be turned on for residents to admire between 6 pm-9 pm October 26-31. 
  • Winners will be contacted by email. 
  • Maximum of 25 houses for each category to be nominated.

Contest rules
  • Open to all residential properties in the Town of Cochrane, AB
  • Submissions will be accepted until Midnight October 23, 2026, MST
  • Competition dates are October 26 through October 31, between the hours of 6:00pm and 9:00pm.
  • Lights need to be on between 6:00pm and 9:00pm from October 26-31, 2026.
  • Viewing may take place anytime during these competition dates/times.
  • Contest is limited to exterior decorations, which must be visible from the curbside (entering the property to view back or side yards is not permitted).
  • Decorations must not cover/interfere with any fire safety equipment, roadways or sidewalks/walkways.
  • Photos & Media: participants must agree to have photos of their displays and their addresses posted online, including at the sole discretion of the Town of Cochrane the Spooky & Bright map, voting forms, and our Facebook account.
  • There is no limit on the number of submissions by a single entrant.
  • Homeowners are welcome to enter themselves in the competition.
  • One vote per email address per day from Oct. 26-Oct 31.
