Celebrate Canada Day in Cochrane with a full day of festivities

(Cochrane, AB) — The Town of Cochrane invites residents and visitors to come together on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, for a full day of celebration, connection and Canadian pride, beginning at the Cochrane Legion and continuing into the evening at Mitford Park.

The day begins at the Royal Canadian Legion, 114 5th Ave, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., with a pancake breakfast and flag-raising ceremony, accompanied by a performance of O Canada and remarks from Mayor Nagel. The pancake breakfast is $3 for adults, $2 for children ages 6 to 12 and free for children under 6.

“Canada Day is a chance to come together as a community and celebrate what makes Cochrane such a special place to call home,” said Mayor Morgan Nagel. “We hope you can join us for a full day of activities for all ages to connect with neighbours, enjoy shared traditions and celebrate Canada, with thanks to the volunteers and organizers who help make this day a special tradition in Cochrane.”

Following the morning festivities, the celebration continues at Mitford Park, 207 West Rock Rd. Beginning at noon, the park will host an afternoon and evening of entertainment, activities and community spirit.

Residents can look forward to a free, family-friendly celebration featuring live music throughout the day, along with family programming, local food vendors and a licensed beer garden. The event will conclude with a fireworks finale.

There will be no on-site parking available at Mitford Park. Guests are encouraged to plan ahead and take advantage of the free shuttle service, or consider walking or biking where possible. Bike racks will be available; residents are reminded to bring their own bike locks.

Although a little rain is in the forecast, celebrations are expected to proceed as planned, with programming adjusted as needed to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all attendees. Guests are encouraged to dress for the weather and plan accordingly.

The Town of Cochrane extends its appreciation to the dedicated volunteers, sponsors, community members and the Cochrane and Area Events Society (CAES) whose efforts help bring Canada Day celebrations to life each year.
