As Cochrane continues to grow, so do the transportation options available to residents and visitors. Starting April 1, the Town’s popular shared mobility program returns, bringing back e-scooters as a smart, sustainable, and convenient mode of travel. In partnership with Bird, this initiative offers an effortless way to commute, run errands, or explore Cochrane’s vibrant downtown and scenic pathways.
E-scooters will be available at key locations throughout Cochrane, including Historic Downtown and the Quarry, ensuring easy access for riders. Planning your route is a breeze with Cochrane’s interactive map at cochrane.ca or the trails and pathways layer on Google Maps.
In addition to the designated e-scooter stations, the program includes geofencing to further enhance safety and convenience. Certain areas, such as the train tracks, skate park, and golf courses, are designated as no-ride zones to ensure that scooters are used responsibly. Slow zones have also been implemented in high-traffic areas to provide a safer experience for all riders and pedestrians.
Safety is our top priority:
- Riders must be 16 years or older.
- Helmets are strongly encouraged but not mandatory.
- All users are expected to follow provincial regulations and road rules for a smooth, safe riding experience.
- Responsible parking is crucial - please ensure scooters are parked in designated areas to keep sidewalks, bike lanes, and pathways clear for pedestrians, cyclists, and other commuters.
“As Cochrane continues to expand, we remain committed to offering transportation options that are convenient, sustainable, and accessible,” says Michelle Delorme, Director of Parks & Active Living. “The e-scooter program is a perfect solution for our growing community, offering residents and visitors a greener and more connected way to navigate town. Whether it’s commuting to work, running errands, or exploring Cochrane’s extensive pathways, e-scooters provide a modern, flexible travel option while helping to reduce traffic and our environmental footprint.”
