Effective: July 21, 2026, at 12 p.m.
(Cochrane, AB) – Due to the current and upcoming hot weather conditions and increased fire risk, the Town of Cochrane has issued a fire advisory effective 12 p.m. on Tuesday, July 21, 2026.
A fire advisory indicates the fire danger rating is moderate. While no restrictions are currently in place, residents are encouraged to take additional precautions and exercise increased vigilance.
Residents are reminded to:
- Always supervise fires
- Keep a water source nearby any open fire
- Wet the area around fire features to prevent ignition
- Fully extinguish fires before leaving
- Keep fire pits a minimum of 3 metres from property lines, combustible materials and structures
The following activities are allowed:
- Town fire pits (Mitford Park, Riverfront Park, Cochrane Ranche)
- Wood-burning backyard fire pits
- Charcoal briquette barbecues
- Propane or natural gas barbecues and fire pits
- Indoor and outdoor wood-burning fireplaces
- Chimineas and fornos ovens
- Pellet stoves and smokers
The Town of Cochrane will continue to monitor conditions and update the fire danger rating as needed.
