A night of connection and vision: 2025 State of Cochrane address

(Cochrane, AB) – On March 27, in partnership with the Cochrane & District Chamber of Commerce, Mayor Jeff Genung delivered the much-anticipated State of Cochrane address, where he reflected on the highlights of 2024 and provided a glimpse into the plans for 2025. The event was filled with networking and community connection as residents, Council members, administration, the Chamber and local business leaders gathered to build relationships and share ideas about the town's growth and development. 

Following the address, the Town of Cochrane is excited to release its 2024 Report to the Community, offering a comprehensive look at the Town’s achievements, upcoming initiatives and how community feedback is shaping the plans for Cochrane's future.

The 2024 Report to the Community showcases the progress made throughout the year, from infrastructure improvements to new business developments and successful public engagement initiatives. Residents are encouraged to explore the report online to learn about the milestones we reached in 2024 and what’s on the horizon for 2025. With contributions from the community, the report highlights how public input has directly influenced the development of programs, services, and policies aimed at making Cochrane a great place to live, work and play.

"In 2024, we made real strides—expanding infrastructure, enhancing community spaces and planning for growth while staying true to Cochrane’s unique identity. I’m proud to be part of these efforts and what we’ve achieved together as a community," said Mayor Genung. "As we move into 2025, we’re continuing to invest in what makes Cochrane a great place to call home—new recreation spaces, better transit options and strong advocacy for schools and services our growing community needs."

The report also delves into significant developments, such as the ongoing efforts to address the "traffic puzzle," new infrastructure projects and initiatives designed to support Cochrane’s growth. Additionally, key public engagement efforts and their role in shaping future projects are outlined, emphasizing the Town's commitment to transparent communication and community-driven decision-making.

The major achievements featured in the report include: 

  • Cochrane’s new Municipal Development Plan: Envision Cochrane 2050 
  • Centre Avenue Phase 3
  • Glenbow and Historic Ranche pathway improvements 
  • Progress on the Provincial Highway 1A/22 interchange

The report provides an update on plans for 2025, including James Walker Trail, Glenpatrick Drive infrastructure replacement and a new hybrid transit service.
