(Cochrane, AB) – In recognition of the passing of our colleague, Captain Huw Jeffries, and his deep-reaching connections and contributions to our community, the Town of Cochrane has lowered flags at Town facilities to half mast.
Captain Jeffries has been an integral part of the Cochrane Fire Services team for nearly 32 years and will be fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of working with him.
As one of the first full-time firefighters, Huw helped Cochrane Fire Services transition from a volunteer to a full-time fire department. As a training officer, Huw mentored and trained many members of the Cochrane Fire Services team as well as firefighters from other surrounding and regional departments.
Huw will be remembered as a leader, mentor and friend who always had time for others and never shied away from doing his best to help others learn and grow in their careers.
Huw passed away on the evening of Thursday, June 27 due to illness. Our thoughts and condolences are with Huw’s family during this difficult time.
