Fire Advisory in effect for the Town of Cochrane as of 14:30 hrs

As a result of increasingly dry conditions Cochrane has issued a Fire Advisory, effective at 1430 hrs. on August 27, 2025. 

Fire Advisory – Moderate Fire Danger. A warning that a fire ban may be issued, or that a short-term fire hazard (e.g., high winds, anticipated weather conditions) has been identified. During a Fire Advisory, open fires are allowed but residents are reminded to be extra cautious. Soaking areas adjacent to fire pits with water is recommended.

The following uses are prohibited:
• none

The following are allowed during the fire advisory:
• Public recreational fire pits (Mitford Park, Riverfront Park, Cochrane Ranche)
• Backyard fire pit (wood burning - contained within a recommended receptacle)
• Propane or natural gas fire pit or fireplace
• Indoor and Outdoor household fireplace or stove (wood burning)
• Barbeque (charcoal briquettes, propane, or natural gas)
• Chiminea
• Wood-fired cooking oven 
• Wood pellet or chip stoves and smokers

Cochrane will continue to monitor conditions and risk within the municipality and may upgrade the rating or issue a fire ban as required.
