(Cochrane, AB) – After two construction seasons, major work on the Glenpatrick Drive infrastructure
replacement project is complete, on schedule and within budget, marking an important milestone
for the Glenbow community.
The project replaced nearly 50-year-old infrastructure along Glenpatrick Drive, including water,
sanitary and stormwater systems, while also making significant improvements above ground to
enhance safety, accessibility and connectivity throughout the area.
Improvements include a new road surface, sidewalks, curbs and gutters, a new multi-use pathway
adjacent to William Camden Park, pedestrian crosswalk bump-outs and a new traffic circle at the
intersection of Glenhill Drive and Glenpatrick Road to the north and east. Additional pedestrian
improvements, including crosswalk flashing beacons, have also been installed to improve visibility
and safety.
“This project was an important investment in the Glenbow community and in infrastructure that will
serve residents for decades to come,” said Adam Sullo, Executive Director, Engineering & Planning.
“This work helps ensure the infrastructure residents rely on every day is safe, reliable and able to
meet the needs of the community. We’re proud to see the project complete, thankful to our external
partners for their dedication to their work, and grateful to Glenbow residents for their patience and
cooperation throughout the work.”
The completion of major construction represents more than an infrastructure upgrade, it provides
safer connections for people walking, cycling and driving through the neighbourhood while renewing
the essential underground systems that support the community.
The Town also extends its thanks to residents, businesses, Glenbow Elementary School and everyone
who navigated construction, temporary access changes and other disruptions over the course of
the project.
Some final landscaping, cleanup and repair work will continue as the project wraps up. An additional
lift of asphalt is planned as part of the standard construction process following the initial settlement
and warranty period.
