About the board

In Alberta, public library service is municipally based. The board manages, regulates and controls the municipal library in accordance with the Libraries Act and Libraries Regulation. Board members (trustees) are appointed by Council and are responsible for managing and regulating the operation of the library and encouraging the development of services and activities.

The Library Board meets the third Tuesday of every month at 7 p.m.

Cochrane Light Up has long been a cherished event for families in Cochrane, offering an excellent opportunity for businesses and organizations to engage with the community.

Over the years, this event has evolved to feature a captivating light show, which will remain illuminated and active each night until early January 2026. The evening will culminate with a grand finale, promising an exciting conclusion that is sure to delight attendees.

In line with last year's initiative, the 2025 Cochrane Light Up event aims to reduce waste by encouraging participants to bring their own reusable cups for their hot chocolate.

We invite you to join us on Saturday, November 29, 2025, from 4:30 PM to 7:30 PM in the Historic Downtown streets. Attendees can enjoy hot dogs, hot chocolate, fire pits, live music, and much more. We look forward to seeing you there!

Water accumulating on the street? 

You may be located near a trap low. Trap lows are a part of the stormwater storage system, allowing water to pool on roads, lanes and in greenspaces.

It may appear that the street is flooding up to and, sometimes, including some of your driveway or lawn. It is not.

If the water does not drain within 24 hours after rainfall, please contact Cochrane Operations at 403-851-2590.
